ACTUALLY NO THE ONLY ISSUE I EVER HAVE HAD WITH THE DOGUE DE BORDEAUX MORE THAN ONCE ARE EAR INFECTIONS DUE TO THEIR FLOPPY EARS. BUT AS LONG AS YOU KEEP THEIR EARS CLEAN AND DRY THEY SHOULD NOT BECOME A BIG ISSUE.

What about hip dysplasia, BLOAT and cancer in the dogue de bordeaux? The main cause of death in this breed is cancer!! Buy from a backyard breeder and you have no idea what you are getting!!!! If you buy from a breeder who does not test their breeding pair -you are asking for trouble. THIS is NOT an inexpensive breed to own!!

Mange can be an issue for the first 2 years of the dogue de bordeaux life. The breed is one of many who are susceptible and more prone to developing mange. It is treatable and early intrevention can make it an non issue, although it will cost you to fix. So chose your pup well and go thru a good breeder who's responsible and up front about their dogs.

The dogue de Bordeaux shouldn't have a lot of health issues today. But they are susceptible to any of the maladies associated with large breed dogues, like hip dysplasia , cardio myopathy etc. etc. The gene pool today is sufficiently large enough to avoid most health issues. Unfortunately, breeders with the ethics, knowledge and resources to take advantage of such a large gene pool are not as readily available.
