I live in the south and will the heat affect the french mastiff

I live in South Carolina and will the heat affect the Dogue De Bordeaux to the point of a health issue?

It is very possible that this could happen. French Mastiff dogs are very prone to over-heating, although they can cool down with lots of water, shade, and air conditioning.

The heat is not as desirabl eto a Bordeaux as the cold may be. From what I hear, unlike most of us in the Northeast, those of you in the south often have the luxury of air conditioning. Some means of conditioning may be necessary for the dogue. Cedar chips in a doghouse not only keep the dogue dry and warm in the northeast winters, they also keep the dogue cool in the heat of the south. Start with a healthy specimen and the summer heat shouldn't be a major concern
