i have a long haired mini female dachshund she will not be one year for another two months but i am very concerned because i have a large male lab and he has acted out of the normal toward her in the way i may feel he is watching out for her im so affraid of them mistakenly breeding before he is fixed, can someone please tell me the earliest she can come in heat or even breed? is she even old enough for that to happen? if so my next question is can a vet abort it so that she is not harmed?

Not a Dachshund knowledgeable person (Teddy boy is my 1st) but have Irish Wolfhounds, they come into season approx every 6 mos..any male, no matter the size, will know they are in season, & will mate..she can breed within 10 days after she is in season..usually you will see blood spots , her vulva is swollen yes, the vet can abort but only with a spay. spaying for each of your dogs is the best, but, spaying should not be (ideally) until they are physically mature..check with your vet
