We feed our corgis 1/2 of their daily food in the morning before work and 1/2 when we get home from work so he shouldn't need to go home during lunch. Maybe during the potty training phase he may want to go home at lunch but after trained the corgie should be fine while he's at school at long as you watch how much water is left out.
