My Mom has allergies. I'm trying to look for a collie, because we both think they don't shed a lot.....Do you think they do....I want a dog inside..... It wouldn't be inside always, but anyway I want a dog inside because, I have had 2 dogs that I loved dearly, but they died for a very odd cause, that I still don't understand. I want maybe my next dog to be inside because I don't want to go through that again..... If you have any advice, I'd love it.

Collies do shed some. It depends on if they stay indoors or outside. If they outside they will need to be brushed alot cause they have a thick undercoat for the winter. And they will shed this coat .I have heard that smooth coat collies are supoose to help with this problem.

Both rough (long coated) and smooth (short coated) collies shed A LOT. Brushing helps control the wild hair, but there will still be a great deal of undercoat lost. I have knitted scarves from my dogs' shedded hair. One breed that people with allergies can often tolerate are poodles.
