Flint River Ranch for puppies is an excellent food ( its oven baked, no fillers' no preservatives) here's the website: www.frr.com or Blue Buffalo (sold at Petsmart or Petco)

That is odd if it's what he was eating. Is your cocker spaniel calm and in his little crate or quiet area when given food? Some puppies get so excited trying to play and eat at the same time that vomiting happens. If Puppy Chow is what he came with, it should be fine. If it is new and not what he was eating, slowly mix it over to a lower protein content puppy food as 27% is high/good but I'm wondering if it's what he was eating. Mine is eating this, came with it & is fine. I don't feel yours is an ill puppy, just that possibly it is not what he was eating before you brought him home. Also, just try 6 or so in a little dish, next to water and see what a smaller amount does. Might be that he's used to only a few bits at a time.... :)
