No, but chinese shar pei's are not water dogs

I have found that shar peis hate water except to drink. I have had them get in the water with me by calling and they whinned all the way. At the ocean 25-50 feet away from the surf. I have not meet one that likes shar peis and I have raised them since the 80's.

my shar pei loves the water! i take her to the lake every night after work; she swims out on her own over 30 feet for toys!

I have had SharPei for 30 years, they think they are sugar cubes, and melt in water!! Wait until bath time - Have Fun :)

The chinese shar pei breed description includes a dislike of water - make the first bath only feet deep in water and rub and massage alot. i have a rescue and we had to bathe her with soapy wash cloths add rinse while someone else massaged now shes okay with baths my 4 puppies i started a playful bath with them asap and are okay. i have had 1 that kept swimming in my koi pond i dont think she knew, her breed classes her as not a water lover
