I have an almost 4 month old Sharp Eagle ( shar pei/beagle mix) who is incredibly aggressive. We have him since he was about 2 months old, up to date on all shots and medical care and we work with an in home trainer. He hates handling ( being picked up, being pulled away from something he is interested in or when he first wakes up) and often will growl, snarl and attack with intense biting. Giving him up is not an option he is family and for every bad moment he has there is 50 good ones. He is good with children, other dogs, new people, cars, and travel- he just likes to be the alpha or in control of situations. My question is - any suggestions or techniques on how to help maintain or modify his behaviors? we are open to any and all suggestions. Thanks !

i have raised shar pei dogs since the early 90's and most are friendly and loving although protective of the family members but i have never encountered one that wakes up ill, snarling and biting i would suggest if he is an inside pet maybe make him a bed in the laundry room or in another isolated part of the house and teach people not to touch as most shar pei dont like being touched on the top of the head or by people they dont know other than that i have no idea on how to deal with a sleep head
