I am having a serious problem - my soon to be 5 year old chinese crested powderpuff has two major problems - he marks and barks constantly. This is causing tension within my household. Will getting him neutered help either of these problems?? he is otherwise a great dog, I need some serious help, as I cannot bring myself to give him away i love my dog so much...ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED..Thank you.

Neutering may help curb your chinese crested's marking behavoirs, but dont expect it to completely solve the problem, he will still need to be trained to not mark in the house. Neutering may make training easier tho.. he will be able to focus better on you, because he will be less driven by his hormones.

Get your chinese crested a belly band. CrestCare rescue makes them for a $5 or $6 dollar donation. Contact Robin who is the president. Once you get the belly band (it is a strip of fabric with velcro), you put a poise pad (one cut in half) on the band and wrap it around his belly and position the pad so it covers his manhood. Then when he marks, it is on the pad and not your house!! I do this with my boy and my one girl wears a diaper because she and him have marking wars. It has helped by not having a mess and the marking has decreased!
