Chihuahua Question

I try to give my dog boiled chicken without the skin and dry dog food.

I would do both. My Chi is the same way, so I started to mix can food with dry food and she seems to really like it. But just watch. Out how much your giving her.

My chi's love Royal Canin for small breeds and especially the one geared towards Chihuahuas. I know it's a marketing ploy to make food, breed specific but they'll literally pick it out and eat it if I mix it with another brand. It is pricey but they love it and I'm satisfied with the ingredients and nutrition.

If you give them canned food mixed with dry, they may only eat the canned and leave the dry. If you give them the boiled chicken as suggested above, they may never eat dog food again. Chicken is good for them for sure, but canned dog food will cause tooth decay if used alone. Sure, you can take them to the vet 2-3 times a year to have them cleaned, but why pay that cost if you can prevent it by feeding them dry food in the first place? Chihuahuas can be picky for sure, but NEVER cave in to their demands. The first suggestion above is the best. Buy the BEST dry dog food available, and they will eat it. Royal Canin is the best out there and chihuahua's eat it.

Try soaking the dry in water for awhile. Also always leave the dry available. Do the soaked food twice a day until you are sure she is eating enough. Then reduce to once a day, keeping the dry available. Your chi should start eating the dry eventually.
