Cav pups are like any other pup - normal potty training is required (it'll take as long as you put the effort into training). Yes most breeders and all pet stores sell cavs for more than 1000, but try looking for an older dog (left over that never found his forever home). When this happens to my pups, I offer them anywhere from 600 to 800.

I bought my black and tan cavalier puppy (the rarely of the color patterns) for $500 from a reputable breeder and he is CKC registered. Caution though, I did drive 2 hours to pick him up, but it was completely worth it. And as far as potty training time goes, as the other response says, it varies. I got my puppy when he was 12 weeks old. He is now 8 months and is completely housebroken. Work with him or her constantly and give lots of positive reinforcement...you'll lessen your training time!
