Catahoula Leopard Dogs can be registered AKC as FSS dogs (please go to their website for more info). They do not have full registration rights. In order to get full registration rights, a number of steps are involved requiring recognized breed organizations to cooperate with the AKC. At this time there are a number of catahoula breeders that want to keep this dog as a working dog and believe that AKC rules put too much emphasis on form over function of the breed so they have declined to fulfill the requirements set forth by AKC.
