My 3month old Cane Corso Mastiff keeps pooping in his pen that was built for him when we are not home to supervise, while we are home we take him potty alot, but it seems like he waits to go in the house

Make the pen only big enough for him/she to turn around in. if it is too large he will section it off and lay in one place and potty in another.

You need to ask yourself if you would like to be in that pen yourself when you decide in what condition you want your dog to live. When you need to go to the toilet how long could you wait?. Could you go to the bathroom under someone's command and be able to defecate?. The answer is no you would need a bowl movement and not be stressed. Try to give alot of time for your cane corso to relax outside to be able to naturally defecate and give your dog a very large space to live when inside and yes accidents will happend now and then same way we all need to go to the toilet at different unpredictable time of the day. Dogs are not robots. If your dog has a accident don't blame your dog blame yourself and find better ways for him, maybe you need a dog walker to walk the dog on a regular basis at the same time.
