I have a female Cairn Terrier that is 5 months old. She does not bark or growl. I heard her...


I have a female Cairn Terrier that is 5 months old. She does not bark or growl. I heard her growl only once at night when I was out with her pottying. Also heard her bark only once at the neighbor carrying his garbage can. Is this unusual. She loves everybody she meets and every dog she sees.

No, this is not abnormal at all. All of the Cairns that I've had have been like that. They never barked unless someone rang the doorbell, and they were always friendly with everyone they met. They were even great with my neighbor's young children, never growling when their ears/tail were pulled. :) I hope this answers your question, and I hope that you enjoy your Cairn. They truly have such cute personalities!

Well i know it is normal for carins to bark at lawn mowers .

My cairn was the same. Some are just very quiet. She'll find her bark soon enough.

i have a 18 month male cairn, i had the same concerns also. at about 12 months when i take him to the dogpark he chases other dogs and when running in a pack now he barks like crazy ,i think he is trying to motivate the others in the pack to run ,however he never barks at home
