I will be getting my son's 3 yr old bull mastiff. In a few weeks as he and his family will be living out of the country for at least 3 yrs. He adores (the dog) his famIly - 3 kids. And I am concerned about him adjusting to living with me. I also have a 4 yr old chihuahua. Will it be very difficult for him leaving the kids and his home? Any advice to help him adjust? Thanks

You have posed a couple different questions. -Bullmastiffs are very dedicated to their families and especially the children. It would be really good if your son could go and visit this dog before it is brought to your home. This is just to let the dog get to know you and your son...I wouldn't expect any problem except this dog will miss his original family. It will take time and patience on your family's part and give him time. He will learn to love you all too. The other thing I noticed...you said he lived out in the country. Do you have a fenced yard for this dog? I am sure he will be wanting to go outside.
