I have a 6 month old male pure bred bullmastiff and he is in perfect health. I am wondering whether or not it is worth getting pet insurance for him as I have heard many stories from friends about their large breed dogs having cruciate ligament injuries often and it costing in the thousands to get fixed each time. I really hope this doesn’t happen to my bully but I am wondering if I should take precautions just in case something like this were to happen. Has anyone experienced this who can offer some advice?

Hi I highly recommend pet insurance as it helps out a lot if something does go wrong. We just lost our female Bull Mastiff and it cost a small fortune as we didnt have it so yes for your own peace of mind get it.

I would definitely recommend it! We have an 11 month old bullmastiff and at about 8 months he started limping. It ended up being ununited aconeal process. We had to take him to OSU for surgery. It ended up being thousands of dollars. It's genetic and they say when it happens in one elbow it normally happens in all! So far we have seen no signs of it in his other legs. Insurance would have paid for all but $100 if we had it!!!
