My griffon weighs 25lbs. What the heck happened? Face looks right, but size is out of control??? Got him in ME. Ripped off.

My griffon weighs 18 lbs and is a bit taller than the standard height. We purchased him from a pet store and I'm guessing that he was placed there because he didn't fit the standard measurements. We wanted a companion, not a show dog. So despite being larger than the norm, he's a great dog with an equally big heart!

There is a large size variation in this breed. As a breeder - when I started breeding in 1995 I would get a 5 lb mature dog and an 18 lb mature dog out of the same litter regularly. Through the years I have finally been able to regulate my size to 8-10 lbs per pup per litter. But there are still those dogs in the gene pool throwing the varied sizes.

Nope. Brussels Griffons can grow up to 20 lbs lean. Breeders don't say that, they tell you the average. He should look like a skinny rat when wet-if not, he might need to lose a few pounds. Just cut back on his food. They are the best dogs in the world! If you don't want him send him to me!! Seriously!
