There are different answers to this question however, I will tell you what I did for our boston terrier pup. Starting out I fed him 4 times a day in smaller portions than I would if I had fed him 3 times a day. I did this because I wanted to teach him moderation. After about 6 months I began leaving the bowl out and noticed he would eat when he was hungry and not because it was there. I judged this based on the amount of food left in the bowl. He lived to be 15 years old, never any health issues nor was he ever over or under weight. The main thing people need to understand is that each puppy is different as each child is different, it is all truly based on the sweet beautiful puppy's personality. You have to find what works for you and your pup.
