I have had Bostons for over 17 years, and truthfully your cousin doesn't know what he/she is talking about. They do love to play and are wonderful at making fun for the entire family. Like all dogs Bostons need some direction from their owners. If you are clear about what you expect from a Boston you will have a grand pet. Get a book on Bostons best advice I can give.

I have had Bostons for many years and they are one of the most loving breeds ever. I currently have a two year old male. He loves to play but loves to snuggle more. I have never had a wild and hyper one...actually they are just the opposite.

Not true !!! You need to talk to them a lot, they respond to your vboice... This keeps our Boston chilling and he is the best dog ever !!

Boston terriers energy levels really vary depending on the dog. Our first Bostons was calm and loved to sit around, she was happy with just a daily walk around the block. The Boston we have now needs constant exercise. She is always running around the house and yard burning off energy. When we take her to the dog park she amazes the other dog owners with her speed and stamina. We usually take her out for 3-4 mile walks daily. Also don't forget age, younger dogs are often more hyper than older ones.
