I have a 3 year old border collie, got her from a rescue when she was 1. We recently lost our border/spaniel mix who played with the border collie. We feel we need to get another dog for her to play with but not sure what kind. She does not do well with other dogs so we will need to work with her but knowing what breed would be best could help our decison a great deal.

A GSD if you have the space is ideal

I think you should go to the shelter and bring your dog with you to look for a perfect match, this way you can properly analyze your dog and the type of dog who suits your dog best. Like example, border collies are excited energetic dogs, so a playful but relaxed dog should do great with it. Thats why i advise a shelter since they know all about how to find a good match, this way you will be sure if your dog is going to be okay with it. I dont think the breed matters that much, because every dog has his own temper. If you really would like a puppy, you should properly check the typical type of dog who suits your dog, then you should also before taking the puppy in do a proper socializing with the puppy to see if they match. Good luck
