Just bought a 6 wk old male bloodhound that has pooped about a dozen or more times since we brought him home yesterday. Sometimes its runny and sometimes its loose and sometimes he acts like he needs to but nothing comes out. His tummy also looks a little swollen. Could it be an intestinal problem or could it be his food?

Your bloodhound is probably wormy. We got a 6 week old girl with the same problem and she was full of worms. Go to the pet store and get a wormer that treats all worms and follow the directions and he should be ok. Always check with your vet but thats what I did and within a day she was soo much better. Good luck : )

Your bloodhound could need to be wormed and would do Panacur for 5 days. However if you purchased him from out of town then the water change can make his stools loose, also a change in food. If giving treats he is not used to or that are to rich. This is awful young to get a pup should be at least 8 weeks before leaving for a new home, so could be stress even.

The change in moving can cause loose stools also. My Bloodhounds will get loose stools when under stress as puppies. You need to look for blood in the stools and have your vet check the dogs out if you find blood. Also check how much you are feeding your dog. You can over feed the little guys.
