I purchased a black and tan coonhound yesterday. She is UKC registered and both of her parents are used as hunting dogs. My concern is that she seems very small for her age (almost 9 weeks). She is tiny! Almost looks maybe 5-6 weeks instead of 9. My last dog was a full blood redbone and she was huge at only 8 weeks. Should I be concerned?

Every dog is different. If the mother didn't get as much nutrition as she should have when she was pregnant, or if there was a large litter and your pup didn't get as much milk, that could factor in her small stature. But if your vet is not worried, I wouldn't worry. Feed her a high quality grain-free puppy food and make sure you take lots of picture's, she'll grow up fast!
