Hi my breeder says that I cannot walk my new Bernese Mountain Dog for anything over 30 minutes until he is over a year old as he can damage his bones. Is this true?

Yes. Bernese Mountain Dog's can get puppy bone and joint problems. You have a good breeder for telling you that.

Well yes and no.. Bernese Mountain Dogs can be exposed to joint issues if over worked at a young age, but if anyone has had a berner you know that most are little tazmanian devils when pups they will be walking around way more then 30 minutes a day. So I think that your breeder is exaggerating a bit, but only for your pups safety.. for the first couple months you won't even be able to walk that long because he/she will poop out on you in the middle of the walk
