Hi our family is considering getting a Bernese mountain dog and my big question is which sex would be better to get a male or female. I am a vet tech so I do see a few BMD's and I do see alot of health issues with the breed, so for experienced BMD owners is one sex stronger then the other? Thank you!

If by physically stronger, yes male Bernese mountain dogs are more built than the females.. typically 20 or 30 lbs heavier. Although, for BMD, weight is hardly a factor. They are big fluff balls towards children and when raised correctly the most outgoing and submissive breed out there !!

My female Bernese Mountain dog was 100 + pounds and could drag me anywhere! She loved people and other dogs and food!! Just lost her to cancer a couple weeks ago and miss her like crazy. She was 9.
