I need to know if a Belgian Sheepdog would be a good guard dog in an auto repair business where people are walking in and out all of the time?

Not really. Belgian Sheepdogs tend to be extremely wary of strangers. So lots of people coming and going can make them very anxious.

We rescued our dog, a belgian sheepdog mix from a auto repair shop. For a brief time we had roommates and he was very protective of us and very distrustful and sometimes aggressive with our roommates and their visitors. Exactly like what I've read here, strangers make him nervous, especially in his space.

I had a mix w/heavy on the Belgian Sheepdog, 15 years old when he was put to sleep. These are wonderful dogs, mine was around children and would never bite even when his tail was pulled by the kids. Compared to many other breeds, if you work with the dog, they will be the best breed you ever have had. I have raised many dogs, and the personality and intelligence of the Belgian Sheepdog is much better than a labrador.

Each dog regardless of breed has a different personality. More important to find a dog with a personality that is compatible with your situation than to find a particular breed
