You may want to consider a change in dog food. My Belgian began itching and biting severely when put on Nutro dog food. I changed this after a month of feeding and switched to Taste of the Wild food and all itching stopped within 2 days.

I have a two year old Mal, I had that problem also but not for long. Put Olive oil in their food, like a tablespoon only 2-3 times a week. They love the taste and it is good for their skin and coat. Once itching is gone you can use less or just when you notice that their skin is getting dry and itchy again.

Bel. Mal.'s are known to have skin problems to include dryness and skin alergies. Fish oil and olive oil do sometimes help. If its an allergy then he might need a course of steroids from the vet. Flea allergies are an issue. Mine only needs one flea bite to drive her allergies into a full belly rash and between her toes and pads. Hope it helps.
