My 14 weeks old Belgian Melinois is afraid of any other dog he sees when I take him out for a walk. He lies on the ground when a small puppy barked at him What should I do with it?

My Belgian Melinois is the same. She pees all over if a small puppy comes near she is so frightened. I don't have a solution yet but am introducing her to dogs slowly.

It's all about socialization. What age did you acquire your elgian Melinois puppy? Did you start taking him out for walks in parks or in social places? If you keep your mali home, they will display shyness around other pets or human. I take mine downtown and walk around the market place, at first he acted shy, now he is really cool with it.

I got my Mal puppy at 9 weeks and shes now 13 weeks. As soon as I got her and took her home (I live with a friend who rescues pitbulls and there are 8 dogs at the house) she would pee which means shes submitting. Shes great around the dogs at the house. But shes a Alpha female so she can be aggressive towards other dogs and protective over me. These dogs know no fear, so its weird that your dog would submit to a puppy. Could be a number of things, bad breeding (you dont want a super submissive Malinois) or she wasnt socialized much. Either way, get her around as many dogs and people as you can. Shes young so she will hopefully grown out of it. I just took mine to petsmart and my Mal almost attacked a 180 Mastiff lol
