I grew up with bearded collies and now want one for myself- though I live in an apartment in NYC. I know they are active, but have also heard that all they need is a loving owner. Is it cruel to have this dog here in an apt? I would consider doggie daycare to get him exercise?

Do not expect any Doggy Day Care to take care of your dog all the time. Please understand that the Bearded Collie needs an average of 2 - 3 hours of hard exercise a day to be happy. Since you grew up with Bearded Collies and you know their needs, as long as you think you can give the dog what he/she needs, then go for it. You may want to adopt an adult dog, as they will already be house-trained since you live in an apartment. As well, if the dog does go to Doggie Day Care, he/she will hopefully be more socialized and not as apt to pick up bad habits from other dogs.
