Beagle Question

it depends he might just be playing. my beagle does the same with my 3 year old need to see if he is playing rough or is aggresive

My beagle was like this- it's called 'resource guarding' and can grow to be a big problem if not handled quickly! The key for me was realizing that I spent a lot of time taking things away from my beagle (puppies eat and chew on the most dangerous things) so what I learned to do was REPLACE the item I didnt want him to eat/chew with something that was appropriate like a bone or toy. Reinforce this with a happy command- I used- "Trade!" and within a couple of weeks he understood that I wasnt trying to take his prize, but give him a better one. Hope that helps!

Check in your area for puppy training classes. It is well worth your time, and will undoubtedly cure your puppy of the biting urge. The resource guarding can be trained out of your beagle, as can the nipping or biting of your young children. Do it while she is still a puppy.
