I just rescued a 9 mth beagle all I know is he was mistreated and the other people who had him didn't have time for him. It's the first night, but I don't know if this behavior is normal or not. -When he plays with my other dog(1 1/2yrs), he bites his back legs and not playing either? Is that a hunting trait? - When my other dog eats or chews something, the puppy will like charge him and bark until he gets whatever he has? -He is just a puppy and beautiful, I want to give him a chance,I can't if he is going to see my other dog a prey. Plus he is very stubborn which I have read is normal. But makes it even harder to train and get him to stop biting my other dog. -Is he still trainable with his instincts already kicking in and his stubbornness out of control? I know he's not going to stop all this in 1week, but atleast within a month I would like to see improvement? Is that out of question? Please help me with any advice/links that would be helpful. Thank you!

Beagles love to chew anything, so get him ( I'm guessing him) a lot of toys. About the biting the legs of your other dog, we have two beagles and a border collie and when our collie and male wrestle the beagle still goes for the legs because that's how he knows to get the collie to the ground. Your beagle may grow out of it or he may not, but if you let the two go and your other dog lets the beagle have it he will get discouraged. Lastly, our male beagle will lay in front of the food bowl blocking it until he's had enough. The barking will also die down as he gets older. Hope any of this helps.
