I have a 2 year old basset female who is a sweetheart and would be absolutely perfect if she just didn't 1) Eat poop and 2) Get the idea of doing her business outside. I've crated her and put her on a schedule and it just doesn't seem to work. The poop eating is disgusting. How can I break her of this habit? Do you have any tips for potty training that I can use? I don't want to have to keep her in the crate all day long.

Mine both eat poop too. The only way to really stop it is to be there to pick it up right after they go, so they don't get a chance to eat it. I've tried the pills, pineapple, everything. Nothing works except the quick pick up!

Try another kind of food . Your basset is lacking something in her diet! My bassets did the same thing, we changed their food and it made things better!!

I have a male puppy basset hound who is almost 4 months old and the breeder uses only Canidea All Life Stages dry dog food. We have kept him on the same food and our vet said that his coat is beautiful and the vet said that it is an really good dog food.
