Anatolians are large dogs but not aggressive. They do bark at night and may be too large for children or living inside. They love to play and to be petted and will get between you and another "rival". It is sometimes said they "hug" their owners trying to get as close as possible for attention.

My Anatolian hugs me all the time... she Also trys to hug my 2 year old ... they are massive dogs and with the proper training they can be "ok" around those younger than 5, however when they get excited it is common for them to run over adults as well as children.

Yes Anatolian Shepherds are great for indoor home and personal companions and guardians they are no more out of place in the home then in the Great Dane they are very gentle with children. My sister age 6 at the time, was approached by an aggressive stray dog while playing in the yard I seen the stray and started running to my sister by but I was too far away (the yard is 4 acres setting in the middle of an 80 acre farm) the dog attempted to attack my sister but my female Anatolian intercepted and attacked the stray dog, long before I could get there the stray was running for its life with my Anatolian Shepherd chasing it down. My dog saved my sister. I recommend these dogs for anyone with children. I will have them my entire life.

My Anatolian latches on to little kids and won't let them out of her site. She's a big sweetie!
