I have a 10yr old male American Staffordshire Terrier that has just lost his mate and am wondering if it would be a good idea to get another mate for him?

i wouldnt get a puppy, maybe adopt an older female from a shelter so that he doesnt have to put up with the chewing and antics of a rambunctious pup, i bet he would enjoy the company or even see how he does as an only guy and give him more affection/attention now that he is an only child....:)

Yes, definitely...your American Staffordshire Terrier needs a companion, that is what he is used to. I would suggest a female pup or adult female dog of similiar size & activity level.
