Maybe your dog has allergies?? Dogs unlike humans exhibit their Allergies through their skin. It can be a food allergy or to normal things in the enviornment like pollen! Although if the itching is really bad it can be mange and other mites..Bring up his itching the next time you are at the vet!

we notice our eskie will do this to her paws if she is bored or lonely. We have a special spray we use to stop her from doing this.

One of my male Eskies does this repetitive chewing of his forelimbs. Vet said this is how he calms himself down, like a pacifier. Sometimes, the chewing causing stains on his fur, so I wash him. If we give him some treat to chew, it averts his "nervous chewing."
