I've had several American Eskimos and never a mean one later on in their life. All of my eskimos lived between 13 and 17 years. I just lost my last eskimo a week ago at age 16 and 2 months and its taken a toll on me. If you've got one or are getting one you won't regret it. They're a beautiful breed. Good Luck to you

No, they will not get mean. I have an eskie and he is 10. Their life expectancy is between 13 and 17 years old.

Eskies are truly intelligent, honorable and devoted companions. Their personality stays with them until they pass. It is a blessing that these amazing animals live longer than almost any other canine breed, because it is a heartache when your beloved companion leaves. I once met a man who had his Eskie for 17 plus years, and he was brought to tears by the sight of mine. He kept telling me that this beautiful Eskie in my arms is the best treasure.
