I have two 12 year old American Eskimos and I love them both so much. The female is called Sasha and she is fine. The male is Snowy and in the past 2 months he has spent time with me as my husband was in hospital. We are retired so always at home. He follows me everywhere all day long and lately he is not eating his regular food only treats. I am going away for a month but will have a carer at home to look after them - I never put them in kennels. I am ssooooooo worried about leaving him for a month and especially as he is not eating. I took him to the vet and the vet could not find anything wrong with him. I wish I was NOT going away but I cannot cancel this long trip. Please advise as I am anxious. Will he eventually eat after I go?? or can dogs pass away from not eating. I thank you for your prompt reply - Concerned pet lover

well, a hungry dog will eat what he/she has available to eat. if the vet is a good vet and says nothing is wrong, the vet is probably right. there is no reason why a healthy dog wouldn't eat other than from not being hungry. sorry, that's all the information i've got. hope this helps.

I have a two year old eskimo and anytime I go away for a long trip he won't eat. He will sit by my closed bedroom door crying. He will eat when im gone but just enough to not starve. These dogs get sad when their owner is away. Your dog will be fine. Just very happy to see you when you come home after the trip.
