i just got a 5 week old american bulldog..... he is eating very well he is also at 12 lbs...


i just got a 5 week old american bulldog..... he is eating very well he is also at 12 lbs already ....is it too early to start training him? and would it be a good ideal to have him go to training classes at 8 weeks.....ZEUS is my first ABD

I don't know how soon is too soon to start training an AB. We got our first last June and she was 10 weeks old. We had her housebroken by 12 weeks with knowing what sit, lay down and high five within a few more weeks. They are INCREDIBLY smart dogs and if you work with then they are amazing. She can be at full play and all running all around and if we say "Tessa sit" she stops wherever she is and sits - waiting for the next command.

Five weeks is far too early. Eight weeks is a minimum. Regardless training can never be started too early. You may want to take classes since you don't seem to have a clue.
