I adopted an American Bulldog from the shelter. We are not sure of the exact age but he is somewhere around 7 months old. He only weighs about 40 pounds. Is this normal or will he maybe have a growth spurt?

American Bulldogs are not full grown until age 2. males weigh anywhere from 70-100+ pounds, depending on the bloodline. They tend to grow taller before they start packing on the muscle and filling out width wise. I would do 3 things: 1) de-worm puppy, 2) make sure you are feeding a food that has no lamb and preferably no corn - food allergies are a problem and become costly - its worth your while to buy better food... NO PEDIGREE!!! Thats stuff is horrible for American Bulldogs. 3) Get him out for lots of exercise so he can grow strong and buld his muscles... If you are doing these 3 things and he is happy and growing, then he is fine. He should start to pack on some weight pretty fast, because 40 lbs is a little light at 7 months old.
