I live in California and have an Alaskan Klee Kai. The weather is very hot, and he does fine. Periods of high humidity and heat cause him to "blow coat." Our AKK is pretty good around children, but we made sure to keep him around a LOT of kids when he was a puppy. If you don't socialize this breed early on with as many people and as many other dogs you can, they will become people, and dog aggressive. As soon as they get their 6mo shots you should start them with a puppy socialization and obedience classes. That is a MUST! Another must, if possible, try and find a breeder close enough to drive to. It's so important to get a feel for the adult dogs, and puppies for adoption, in action. A puppy that looks cute on a breeders website, could be psycho when you get him home. (hahaha...that is what happened to me the first time, but you live, and learn.) I found a breeder that was a 3.5 hour drive away, but it was SO worth the drive.
