When shouid you stop breeding a malamute? at what age? also my girl looks like she is loosing...


When shouid you stop breeding a malamute? at what age? also my girl looks like she is loosing hair on her backside upper back legs. Why is that?

There is a good chance your female has a thyroid problem, which needs to be treated by a vet and controlled with medication. Also, that is a hereditary defect and any puppies she's produce will probably have the same problem. Responsible breeders will screen for thyroid disease before breeding their dogs, as well as getting hips and elbows rated by OFA, getting the eyes cleared via CERF exam, and in this breed, making sure there is no chrondodyplasia (dwarfism) in the lines.
