My mal is almost two years old and had never had a temperamental personality. I recently moved to a different neighborhood where an airedale terrier, amongst a hundred other breeds, lives and he gets very aggressive when this dogs strolls by. He will bark at him through the windows of the house and when we are sitting on the porch. Today, he ran off the porch and attacked the dog. One time when they first met, we were both walking on the same sidewalk, the airedale lunged toward my dog and there was a brief fight but I pulled him away with his leash. So ever since that encounter its just been aggression coming out towards that dog only. Then today it happened where he just ran right across the street towards the airedale. My mal is very sweet and has never shown this to me other than with this one dog. I'm so confused! Please any advice will do.

Your malamute is reaching maturity and has already decided he does not like this dog. You need to work with a qualified behaviorist AND keep your dog from having further encounters with this dog, especially with your dog off leash. Once you get the knowledge to train and manage this behavior, if the owner of the airedale is willing to work with you and the behaviorist, you can try to repair the relationship. If you aren't proactive in getting this behavior under control your dog may begin to generalize to other dogs that either look or act like the airedale, or just other dogs in general.
