i have a 10month old female pug and just got a 2 month old female malamute should i be worried...


i have a 10month old female pug and just got a 2 month old female malamute should i be worried about my pug getting hurt?

In short, yes. Malamutes can be very dominant with other dogs, and some will display this trait even with the right upbringing. I would start working now to train your malamute puppy, and working with a qualified behaviorist is ideal. Two female dogs are the most likely to have dominance issues and they can be serious or fatal. I am not trying to scare you but to get you to be proactive in raising the malamute to work out well with the pug. Because of the size difference, as the malamute grows, if things go wrong it can be very bad. Working on this right now while the pup is young and learning is critical to ensuring things are safe for your pug when the malamute is full grown and mature (2-3 years of age.) Don't just let them "work it out" as that won't go well.
