We adopted an Akbash dog almost a year ago, who was at least a year old. In our backyard we have a 4 foot split rail fence. Our dog likes to chase squirrels and rabbits in the yard and has realized that he can now jump the fence into the neighbor's yard and even jump their gate at get into the neighborhood. We cannot change the fence because of the HOA regulations. So I have to take him out on a leash to go to the bathroom. If we purchase an electronic dog fence, will this keep him secure in the yard, or will be realize the minor shock and then continue to chase the wildlife in the neighborhood? Can anyone recommend a solution. This is very frustrating.

I have 2 dogs. 1 stays in the yard the other likes to get loose. We didn't want to have to hold her on a leash. What we did is tied a rope around a tree and tied her to it so she could still run a little free. Once we moved we tried something different. Since we had the woods were right behind our house.(Both dogs ran out this time) My family and I went to the animal store and bought a hook, dug into the ground. The hook had a red little rope and had a clip on both sides. Next we tied the dogs up to it. IT WORKS! ps I hope I could help!
