Afghan hound's fur is perhaps one of the hardest of breeds to groom. bathe the dog when necessary,do not brush in-between baths, brushing an afghan's dry coat will only damage the coat and make it more easily matted. some owners like to use a special air-cushioned brush called a pinbrush. A weekly bath is not as important for an afghan hound that will not be shown, but it saves a lot of time in the end.
