Anything but a breeze to groom. They require a lot of coat care if done properly. If you shave or clip them they lose that beautiful, kinky look! They look best if hand stripped or with a stripping tool.

I use thinning scissors on his body and legs. I prefer this to stripping because he is not shown, but the thinning scissors still keep the coat as it should be (kinda wirey) and they are supposed to look a little shaggy, besides. I trim the hair over the eyes by making a "V" which gives him a very cute look. Actually, a "V" is the closest I can describe it, but probably like an upside down "U" with the sides wider but shorter than above the nose. My boy hasn't had his ears done or tail, and I prefer them that way! I am a groomer and have gone to grooming school, so I DO know what I am talking about. If you clip the coat, it will come in soft and also loose that little shaggy look that Affies are supposed to have. Good Luck!
