QUESTION: We just got our mini pin maybe 2 weeks ago, he'll be 8 weeks tomorrow. I heard getting them to soon can cause them to bite more. We've tried yelping and not playing with him. If he continued to bite we would tell him "no bite" and put him in his pin. Still nothing works. I've even tried holding his lower jaw til he backed off, but still nothing. Should we try using a newspaper to tap him on the nose? I just dont know what to try anymore.

QUESTION: We have a new healthy 3 month old male minpin. We decided to crop his ear last december 22,just last year. But his ear now is not that fully erected. Im afraid his ear will not erect as I expected, he's turning 4 months old this jan 28.When I brought him to vet to have his stitches in the ear removed, i asked his vet if she will put a brace or plaster to erect his ear, she said no, it will erect on itself when the ears is fully healed. I read some story of minipin failing to have its ears erect even if they were cropped, I don't want them to happen to my puppy. I love him seeing with perfectly erected cropped ears.:).my question is, at what age will a minpin's cropped ears usually erected? I know you will think that I'm too excited but yes im so excited.. LOL.

Respond to Question
I think dogs become mature mentally when it reached 2 years old. My family always have a dog since I'm still a baby. I grow up with company of dogs. And I noticed that when they reach at least 2 years of age they become mature, they do not do the things that they always do before like playing around. Like our labrador, he used to run a lot, destroy whatever he wants to destroy, and dig and dig and dig. But when he reach to years, he become placid, if we let him out of his cage he just go outside and take a poo poo then back to our house and lay around. As a result he gain a lot of weight, he was just 30kg in his 2 years now he is 49 kg. Same with our great dane(25%)-mastiff(75%) mix. But he begun to be lazy when he is 3 years old. Like our lab, he also gain enormous amount of pounds. -Jayson from the Philippines.

QUESTION: How much exercise do mini pins need?

Its not good for a minpin to have an intense exercise because its legs are small, the bones are brittle. I think moderate amount of walking daily will do.

Anonymous - 12/22/2011 10:02:00 PM
Respond to Question
My minipin actually helps put her own legs into her coat to go for a walk. They stay and cuddle with you for the longest time. They are so loving and therapeutic. Your grandfather would enjoy a minipin. Kennel it when training and be super consistent because they are headstrong and eager to escape confinement.

Anonymous - 12/2/2011 5:22:23 PM
Respond to Question
Min Pins tend to be very food driven. I do not limit my Min Pins food but when they start looking like a little sausage instead of the little "Doberman" look I pick up their food dish for a few weeks and only feed a cup in the morning and a cup in the evening. Then once they get their sleek little body back I go back to full feed. It will also depend on what kind of food you feed and how much exercise you allow. Just watch their body condition closely.

hi there..i've read from an article in the newspaper that you could use dishwashing liquid as anti-tick shampoo..you could find one with vitamin E so you're dog's coat would be shiny..just leave it for 5 minutes..well, i've tried it..it worked for my min-pin..:)
Anonymous - 11/24/2011 9:09:45 AM
it doesn't smell pretty but at that age there is only so much you can do. do a mix half water half vinegar. it works on all size dogs and helps kill them on carpet and flooring as well
