Overview
The Cavachon is created by crossing two breeds: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise. They are typically referred to as "designer dogs". They have become popular companions, especially to allergy sufferers.
Character
Small to medium in sie, the Cavachon possesses large expressive eyes and a sporty appearance. They are alert, sturdy, animated, and lively.

Does your Cavachon bark, howl, and cry whenever you leave the house? Separation anxiety is extreme anxiety experienced by your dog when you are away from him.
Temperament
The Cavachon is affectionate, loving, and gentle. They are very family oriented and do not do well if ignored or left alone for extended periods of time. They do best with older, considerate children or with children they have been with from puppyhood. Cavachon's will generally get along with dogs, cats, and other household pets. The Cavachon is non-aggressive but will alert their family to visitors and out of the ordinary sounds.
Care
Depending on coat type, the Cavachon requires regular brushing or professional clipping. It is important to regularly check and clean the ears. Dental hygiene is important to prevent early tooth loss. Cavachon's may be prone to such health issues as ear infections, skin problems, sensitivity to flea bites, heart problems, and hip dysplasia.

If your dog is displaying behavior uncharacteristic of his normal actions, call the Vet.
Coat
The coat of the Cavachon may be silky and slightly wavy or loosely curled.
Training
Early socialization and obedience are recommended. The Cavachon may be difficult to housetrain. The crate method is recommended. Training must be done with firmness, fairness, patience, and consistency. Teaching your dog to sit, lie down, and stay is vital to the training of your new puppy. There are several accepted methods of house training your new Cavachon puppy. Consider crate training if you need to adapt your dog to a safe and confined environment for various safety and comfort reasons.
Activity
The Cavachon is relatively active indoors. They are well suited for apartment living. They enjoy family activities, securely leashed walks, and off-lead play time in a securely fenced yard. Socialization is one of the single most important things you can do for your puppy.

All puppies are kept UTD on shots and dewormings. Most of my Affens have several champions in their background. I also have some Ch. mothers and sires. All have lots of TLC from me and my granddaughter.

Will a Cavachon pup be stressed when left home alone?

Anonymous asked:
When do Cavachons lose baby teeth then stop chewing?

Anonymous

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Bichon Frise cross or Cavachon will lose its puppy teeth around 6 - 8 months old. Chewing is a habit that puppies pick up during the time that they lose their teeth because it feels good on their sore gums. Only allowing your puppy to chew on appropriate things and keeping other items away from your pup will stop him/her from chewing on things you don't want her/him to chew on.

Anonymous asked:
Do Cavachons shed? Are they hypoallergenic?

Anonymous

The Bichon Frise is considered hypoallergenic and does not shed. However, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is not hypoallergenic and the breed does shed. They are a 3.5/5 on the shedding scale. When mixing breeds of dogs, new owners must be aware that some puppies from the same litter can take after the dam while others can take more after the sire; and then some can be split right down the middle. So it will be a gamble as to whether or not this mix will be considered hypoallergenic and whether it will or will not shed; as it depends on the pup and who they take after more. Some pups can be considered hypoallergenic because they have the Bichon Frise fur, but still shed a lot like the C.K.C.S.

Anonymous asked:
How much exercise should I give my 2-year-old Cavachon?

An average of an hour of exercise a day. A good 20 - 30 minute walk in the morning before you head off to work. And a good 30 - 40 minute walk/run at the dog park or out on a biking trail would be a great way to end the day for your Cavachon.

Anonymous asked:
Is it ok to mate a Cavachon female with a Cavalier male?

Mixing two breeds of dogs together is a risk to the dam and to the puppies. Unless you are a reputable breeder or are under the study of one, you shouldn't be breeding. Breeding dogs is very dangerous for the dam, sire and the puppies. Unless your dog is of impeccable breeding, has passed all temperament and health checks and has titles in confirmation and/or has shown he/she is capable of doing what the breed was made for, the dog should be spayed/neutered.

So glad that you discourage indiscriminate breeding. Cavachons at are such lovable dogs that one's first inclination might be to duplicate this wonderful little friend. People need to be educated that this just is NOT the way to get another pup. Bravo for your efforts to help new puppy families to understand how Cavachons are bred and to help them ensure a happy life for their new best friends!
